Privacy & Data Protection Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025  |  Last Updated: September 1, 2026

Governance Consult Services ("we," "us," or "our") runs the website found at governanceconsult.services (the "Site"). The way we gather, use, reveal, and safeguard information about people who visit the Site is set out in this Privacy Policy. Your use of the Site signifies your agreement to the practices described here.

Governance Consult Services is an independent editorial publication located in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, and we are not affiliated with the respective vendor or with any other technology vendor.

1. Data We Gather

1.1 Details You Give Us Yourself

Where you get in touch with us using our contact form, you may supply:

  • Your name
  • The email address you give us
  • A subject line along with the body of your message

We use these details only to reply to your enquiry, and they are held securely in our server logs. You are never added to a marketing list absent your explicit consent.

1.2 Data Captured Without Action on Your Part

Certain information is logged automatically by our server software whenever you visit the Site, including the following:

  • The IP address of your device
  • The browser you use and its version
  • The operating system in use
  • The URL that referred you to us
  • Which pages were viewed and how long each one was open
  • The date and time at which access occurred

The purpose of collecting this information is security, fraud prevention, and analysis of traffic in aggregate; it is not used by us to identify any visitor personally.

1.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

A handful of functional cookies is used by the Site, each one strictly necessary for the Site to work as intended (handling session state, for instance). No advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioural advertising networks are used on this Site.

Cookies can be controlled or switched off in your browser settings, and doing that will not materially limit your ability to read the content here.

2. The Ways We Use Your Information

The information we gather is used for the following:

  • Answering the messages and enquiries you send through our contact form
  • Watching over and sustaining the Site's security and performance
  • Understanding aggregate patterns of how the Site is used, so our content can be improved
  • Meeting legal obligations that apply to us

Your personal information is never sold, rented, or handed to third-party advertisers or data brokers by us. Nor is it used for profiling or for automated decision-making carrying legal or significant effects on you.

3. When We Reveal Your Information

Only in the limited circumstances set out below do we disclose your information:

  • Service providers: Server logs are processed by our hosting provider so that the Site can be run. That provider is contractually obliged to handle data in a way consistent with this policy.
  • Legal requirements: Disclosure may occur where a law, a court order, or a government authority demands it, or where it is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Governance Consult Services, of our readers, or of others.
  • Business transfers: Personal information may move across as part of a merger, an acquisition, or a sale of assets should one of those occur. Users will be told through a prominent notice on the Site before any such transfer takes place.

4. How Long We Keep Data

Submissions made through the contact form stay in server logs for a maximum of 12 months and are then either deleted or anonymised. Access logs on the server are kept for 90 days so that security can be monitored. No standing customer database or email marketing list is maintained by us.

5. Safeguarding the Data

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are in place so that the information we hold is protected against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The Site is delivered over HTTPS only, and form submissions travel by TLS encryption. Even so, transmission across the internet is never wholly secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed by us.

6. Links Held by Third Parties

Articles of ours may point to websites run by third parties, the vendor's documentation and support pages among them. Responsibility for the privacy practices of those sites is not ours, and you are urged to read the privacy policies of any third-party site you go to.

7. Privacy of Children

The Site aims no content at children below 13 years of age, and personal information from under-13s is not knowingly gathered. Should we discover that such information was collected by accident, it will be removed without delay.

8. Rights Open to California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Residents of California receive the rights listed below under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You may ask us to disclose the categories and the particular items of personal information gathered about you, where that information came from, the business purposes behind collecting it, and every third party with which it has been shared.
  • Right to Delete: Deletion of personal information collected from you may be requested, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: Where the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, you may ask that it be corrected.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: Your personal information is neither sold nor shared with third parties for cross-context behavioural advertising, so no opt-out is required; you may nevertheless write to us at any time to have this practice confirmed.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercising any of these rights will not expose you to discrimination from us.

Use the contact details below to exercise any of these rights, and verifiable requests will be answered within 45 days as the law requires.

9. Amendments to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time, and the revised version will appear on this page carrying an updated "Last Updated" date. Reviewing this policy periodically is advised. Should you keep using the Site after changes are posted, that constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
